ICONS FOR GAZA

hey everyone. so apparently i can't do a group pp to people i'm not friends with?? idk. so here we go. if anyone would prefer a discord gc lmk and i'll happily make one.

if anyone doesn't know me, hi! i'm astrea!

first thank you SO MUCH for your interest in this. i had been thinking of doing something like this for a while but had been a bit hesitant to post on it. i know lots of folks see this a a political issue and don't want politics near rp but it's really not. and personally, i just feel the need to do something. i don't have much i can contribute but after seeing a new round of artists 4 gaza i felt compelled to do this.

so basically my thoughts are what i said in the initial plurk. folks can make a donation and then we will make them a set that is worth the same as the donation.

i don't know how many sets i'm going to offer or if i'll just have these commissions open for a set amount of time. you are all so amazing and i know time is valuable so any amount of sets you'd be willing to contribute would be amazing! i also think it would good if all our prices were the same. in the past i've done 10 cents per icon for commissions and usually set a max of 150. but tbh if people really want to donate more i'd be willing to discuss that with them.

i was thinking of making a comm that would have an information post with some information and resources about what's happening in gaza as well as all of our information and links to our commission posts. the comm could also be used in the future if anyone else wanted to do a community fundraiser like this.

i also think it might be a good idea to have a poll about what organization we support. i'm kind of torn if we go with letting people donate to whatever or picking just one (or two) so there can be more of a collective impact.

apologies if none of this makes sense, like i said i've never done anything like this before so i might be winging it a little lol.

once we've figured out the details i'll also put another call out to see if there are any other interested icon makers.

also totally willing to make a discord server so we can have more organized discussions on this :)

thank you again for your willingness to do this!

Hey there, Chaiabolical from plurk and icon-poster on notamuppet here! I’m super down to be helping out for this since I feel like this is more a humanitarian crisis when you get down to it

I think having a set period of time (the full months of July and August just as an example) and then some kind of collective form for requests and proof of donation might be the plan but I’m not really familiar with commissions

Also looking over the suggested charities, Care for Gaza got quite a few mentions but will have to look around more for reputable ones

May be easier to organize info and people’s requests/who’s filling what on a Discord as well so I’m for that as well
Edited (Why can’t I link my comm thanks ) 2024-07-01 00:38 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Lia ([plurk.com profile] cosmology and icons at [community profile] phenom). Thank you for organizing this. I think a vote on what organizations to support sounds good.

Timmy ( icons @ [community profile] malagraphic ) and this sounds fine to me! I don't mind discord though please note that my timezone is not the best for discussion (I'm GMT+8).

I think having a set commission post for all of us might be best instead of linking our own? In regards to donations. Also agree on vote on which organisations + set period of time is useful.

hi, it's laika ([community profile] bangparty)! sorry for the late reply, i'm down for all of this! i think we should choose 1-2 charities that are also supported by the BDS, or at least ones that directly go to people on the ground, as it were; the fewer middlemen between donations and recipients the better i think.

as for organisation i'm okay with discord chat also! i'm GMT +8 as well. happy to do codemonkey work as well for the donation post/comm when it goes up.
